Position:
The primary focus of an Snapology After School Instructor is to teach Snapology programs in a fun and engaging way. Snapology Instructors are asked to promote creativity, teamwork, problem-solving skills and fun while educating students on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) concepts. After-School Programs are conducted for children ages 4-14. This role requires internal collaboration and communication with Snapology leadership as well as representing the Snapology organization to parents & children with a high degree of professionalism.  Afterschool classes take place on weekdays (typically M - Th) between the hours of 2:45 pm and 5:30 pm.

After-School Pay Rate: $40 - $50 per Class

For those that have availability to teach daytime and/or evening classes (when we offer them):
Daytime/Evening Class Pay Rate: $35 - $40 per Class + $20/hr for additional teaching hour (mostly daytime classes)

Note: most classes are 1 hour but involve supply pick-up, early arrival, supply pack up and return in addition to teaching the class so total time is around 2 hours.

Role & Responsibilities: 
  • Lead groups of up to 24 students through curriculum-guided activities 
  • Transport learning materials to class/workshop/field trip location (as needed)
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment 
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures 
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies 
  • Adequately prepare for each program by reading curriculum, watching training videos and/or participating in face-to-face training sessions 
  • Handle inquiries from parents regarding Snapology programs & encourage students & parents to enroll students in future Snapology programs 
  • Participate in periodic Snapology training & staff meetings, as required 
Qualifications: 
  • Criminal and Child Clearances current or willing to undergo screening (reimbursed)
  • 2 or more years of experience working with children in a classroom or camp environment 
  • Classroom teaching experience preferred, teachers pursuing a degree in education will also be considered for this position 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others 
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing 
  • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis 
  • Reliable transportation that can be used to transport materials and supplies
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs

This position is part-time. Depending on candidate availability and the time of year, Snapology After School Instructor typically work between 6-15 hours per week during the school year teaching day time and after-school programs during the school year.  Additional hours may be available if interested in teaching/assisting evening and weekend programming, teaching/assisting with Summer Camps during summer months and/or performing administrative tasks.
 
 
 
Compensation: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
